Gridie’s AI agent helps with sheet editing, data analysis, and writing explanations all at once. Follow the steps below to start a conversation and accurately convey the information you need.

Starting a conversation

Open the chat panel on the right (bottom on mobile) and enter a message.
When sending your first message, briefly introducing “what kind of work you need help with” will help you receive more accurate assistance.
To switch to a new topic, click the New Chat button (plus icon) at the top to start a fresh chat window.

How to describe sheet data

Cell range notation: Write ranges in brackets like [A1:B10] or [Sheet1!C2:C100] for the agent to recognize those areas.
Text description: You can also request in natural language, like “pick the top 5 from Sheet1’s sales column.”
Using autocomplete: Press the Tab key in the chat input field to get automatic suggestions for workbook or sheet names.

Attaching files and materials

Use the clip icon on the right side of the chat input field to attach JSON, TXT, PDF, and image files (2MB each or less).
Files are also automatically attached when dragged or pasted.
To show the entire sheet screen together, select the screen capture option when opening Quick Edit from QuickMenu.

Managing conversation history

Use the Chat List button to load or delete previous conversations.
Each conversation is safely stored in the browser, and you can check titles and last message summaries at a glance.
Clean up unnecessary conversations with the trash icon to keep the list tidy.

Exploring chat settings

Click the gear icon at the top of the chat panel to open agent settings.
Register “Agent Rules” to set guidelines the AI should follow, or delete saved memories.
Attachment and save features are limited when not logged in, so please log in to your account before using them.

Effective request methods

Start by stating the desired result, like “organize the currently selected area by customer tier”
When the range is wide, clearly specify only the necessary conditions
For tasks requiring multiple steps, put them in a playbook and request the playbook to be executed in chat
